Cryptodendrum adhaesivum (Klunzinger, 1877)

We saw these variable anemones on multiple reefs in the Anilao area. The tentacles are very sticky to the touch and the anemone tends to suck down into a hole in the reef if disturbed. This species typically does not associate with clownfish, although rarely it is known to host Amphiprion clarkii. It often hosts Ancylomenes brevicarpalis shrimp and Neopetrolisthes crabs.
