Pearsonothuria graeffei (Semper, 1868)

This is the juvenile form of Pearsonothuria graeffei, which changes considerably as it grows to an adult, as seen in these Marshall Islands specimens. The juveniles are thought to mimic certain poisonous nudibranchs, which may protect the small, vulnerable sea cucumbers from predation.
