Bali Mantis Shrimp (Stomatopoda)

This page links to photos of stomatopods (mantis shrimp) we have seen on several dive trips to Bali, Indonesia. We photographed only a few of the larger and more obvious species, so these pages represent only a fraction of the species that are sure to be there. Mantis shrimp have some very interesting characteristics, particularly in the rapid action of their mantis-like appendages and their multifaceted compound eyes. More information can be found on our Marshall Islands stomatopod page.
